MA Gov. Baker Orders All Non-Essential Businesses To Cease In Person Operation

Mar 23, 2020

A Note from Bob Coughlin, President & CEO, MassBio

This morning the Baker Administration ordered all non-essential businesses to cease in person operations in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This order will begin on Tuesday, March 24 at 12 noon and remain in place until Tuesday, April 7 at 12 noon.

As specifically noted in the FAQ from the state detailing what businesses are essential and exempt from the order, “biopharmaceutical companies and institutions involved in the research and development, manufacture, distribution, warehousing, and supplying of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology therapies, and medical devices, diagnostics, equipment and services, are also exempt and essential.”

We still ask that employees that are able to work from home continue to do so and that the intention of this exemption is to keep mission critical activities going that ultimately help patients. We appreciate the incredible effort industry workers have put into fighting COVID-19.

You can find the exception language here: https://www.mass.gov/doc/covid-19-essential-services/download. Any questions can be directed to covid19.biz@mass.gov

Sincerely,
Bob Coughlin, President & CEO, MassBio
