MassBio’s Executive Leadership Statement on Tuesday’s Massachusetts Gubernatorial Results

Nov 09, 2022

“MassBio congratulates Governor-Elect Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Kim Driscoll on their historic election victories on Tuesday. They have broken through glass ceilings that have been chipped and cracked over the years but not yet shattered until last night.

“MassBio and our 1,600 members look forward to working closely with the new administration to advance policies that support the continued growth of the Commonwealth’s life sciences ecosystem which is delivering innovative discoveries for patients with unmet medical needs worldwide. We are eager to discuss partnering with Governor-elect Healey on ensuring patients can afford the drugs they need to stay healthy, expanding the pipeline of skilled and diverse life sciences talent, addressing issues like housing and transportation that make recruitment and retention of workers more difficult, and reforming regulations and taxes that increase the cost of doing business.

“In particular, MassBio is excited to work with the incoming Administration to craft a new Life Sciences Initiative next year that ensures Massachusetts remains the best place in the world for life sciences companies to thrive.

“Massachusetts’ ascendance to being the world’s hub for biopharmaceutical research and development was made possible by intentional and bipartisan government investments, vision, and coordination. MassBio and our member companies are available to Governor-elect Healey and her team as they plan for the transition, embark on their first 100 days, and guide the state’s economy into 2023 and beyond.”
