MassBio’s Patient Advocacy Summit to Bring to the Forefront How Life Sciences Companies Can Fully Integrate the Patient Voice

What: MassBio’s Patient Advocacy Summit brings together the patient advocacy community to showcase best practices and cutting-edge examples of how life sciences companies can more fully incorporate the patient voice into the work they do—not just approaching regulatory applications or at commercialization, but throughout the drug development cycle. Through keynotes, a panel discussion, and a Possible Talk®, expert speakers will discuss the most pressing challenges facing the patient advocacy community and how patient advocates can work to improve leadership buy-in and ensure the C-suite understands the significance of the patient experience.

When: Friday, October 1, 2021, at 11:00am – 4:00pm

Where: The Patient Advocacy Summit will be held virtually via Engagez.

Who: MassBio newly appointed CEO, Joe Boncore, will deliver the event’s opening remarks. The conference agenda also features:

  • Keynote addresses from Rogerio Vivaldi, President & CEO, Sigilon Therapeutics on how patient advocacy must be driven by company leaders; and Adam Taliaferro, State Advocacy & Alliance Development, Bristol Myers Squibb on overcoming adversity and the role the life sciences has in developing potentially lifesaving therapies
  • Scott Campbell, Director, Patient Advocacy & Engagement, Takeda Oncology will deliver a Possible Talk on why and how Takeda Oncology implemented the Patient Advocacy Liaison (PAL) program
  • A panel discussion on how we can leverage the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic to increase patient access to and affordability of therapies and treatments, featuring Anna Legassie, Senior Manager, Strategy & Development, Tufts Medical Center; Carrie Melvin, SVP, Development Operations, X4 Pharmaceuticals; Edward Neilan, Chief Medical and Scientific Officer, NORD; and Jamie Sullivan, Director of Policy, EveryLife Foundation
  • A professional development workshop, led by Jean Campbell, Co-Founder of PPALs (Professional Patient Advocates in Life Sciences), and three experienced patient advocates who will discuss the evolution of a career in patient advocacy
