Upgrading the MassBioHub for an elevated member experience

Jan 28, 2025

When the MassBioHub opened, it was purpose-built with state-of-the-art technology for the time. As we in the biotech industry know, innovation doesn’t slow down. If anything, it is changing at a faster rate  every year. For the Hub, what were once cutting-edge systems have now become outdated, and the advances in video conferencing necessitated by the pandemic only accelerated that process.

Enter Verrex, MassBio’s audiovisual vendor. At the end of last year, they did a full audit of our technology and recommended upgrades. MassBio’s goal from the beginning of this project has been to give our members a seamless event experience and one that leaves an impression on their guests for all the right reasons.

“These upgrades collectively elevate the MassBioHub’s technical capabilities,” says Kyle Stetson, CTS, account executive at Verrex, “offering renters a modern and professional environment.”

Whether you’re organizing the event or attending, you’ll experience:

  • Improved audiovisual quality during presentations and meetings, thanks to enhanced microphones, cameras, and audio systems.
  • Simpler and more intuitive control interfaces with the new wall-mounted touch panels including “1-Touch Join” for Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings.
  • Automatic room configuration adjustments in response to divider changes, creating a seamless experience for various room layouts.
  • Enhanced video conferencing experiences with auto-tracking and auto-framing cameras and clear audio.

No matter which of our six meeting spaces you’re renting, you will now have the same audiovisual options. This was a top priority for MassBio, so rather than tailoring your event to our spaces based on features, we’re taking technology out of the equation by standardizing it throughout. All of our six meeting spaces now have the same high-quality audiovisual capabilities, providing even more flexibility for our member events.

A focus on ease of use and excellence in virtual meeting quality

When you have a virtual meeting on the calendar, you just want it to work. You want to click “Join” and have everything, from your camera to your microphone, simply start.  When there’s a Zoom or Microsoft Teams component to your meeting or event, we want it to be that one-click experience.

From the moment you start your video conferencing in the Hub, you’ll see and hear the difference. New ceiling array microphones from Shure will deliver better audio capture and a more visually appealing look to the room. With the addition of auto-tracking and auto-framing cameras, whether you’re the presenter or the audience, you can rest assured that those on the other end will see and hear you perfectly.

We want you to be able to record and package your content however you want once your event concludes. We will have expanded audio connections and USB switchers so your external production companies can easily tie directly into the audiovisual system. Gone are the days of extended pre-event timelines to ensure your team can execute.

“We want our members who come to us as their venue of choice to have a better experience than they may receive at comparable spaces in the area, and at a lower price point,” said Emily Hill, sales specialist for the MassBioHub. “Our audiovisual technology upgrades will ensure higher quality in-person and virtual meetings.”

See and hear for yourself

These audiovisual enhancements are a huge value add to what the MassBioHub already offers: competitive rates and amenities within a vibrant community of life sciences professionals. But we don’t want you to take our word for it. We want you to come and experience it. All upgrades will be implemented by March 2025!

As we approach the Hub’s fifth-year anniversary this year, thank you for being part of the community. We’re offering an exclusive 20% discount on bookings through February 28, 2025.
