(PSM) Biotechnology in Quality Assurance Graduate Program – Information Session

The Professional Science Master’s (PSM) with a concentration in Biotechnology, specialization in Quality Assurance provides industry-focused scientific and management training to life science professionals, positioning them for future success in managerial or supervisory roles as they advance in their careers. Aligned with the University’s institutional mission of offering programs that produce qualified graduates needed for the Commonwealth job market, the Biotechnology program is flexible and adaptable to the diverse needs of employers in the Massachusetts life sciences community.
Dr. Carney received his Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology with a concentration in Immunology and Infectious Diseases from Thomas Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia, PA and he was a Harvard and NIH Fellow in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Mass General Hospital, Boston, MA.
Dr. Carney has published over 250 articles and abstracts, has been awarded over 30 patents in USA, Canada, Europe and Japan. Dr. Carney was the Head of Oncogene Science in Cambridge, Mass which was a center of excellence for Biomarkers at both Bayer Healthcare and Siemens healthcare. In 2015, Dr. Carney Founded the Walt Carney Biomarkers Consulting, LLC company to provide business and scientific leadership for start-up biotechnology companies. In 2020, Dr. Carney was invited to join the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) program, an NIH COVID19 team with the mission of accelerating the discovery, development and manufacture of rapid diagnostics for the detection of the COVID19 virus.
Currently he is a Visiting Professor at Framingham State University in Framingham, Mass where he teaches graduate courses in Biotechnology Operations & Management, Molecular Biotechnology and Immunology.
