Statement from MassBio’s Executive Leadership Regarding Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Decision

Jun 24, 2022

We are deeply saddened and outraged by today’s Supreme Court decision to overturn the constitutional protection of reproductive rights. This ruling exposes individuals, families, and parents around the nation to grave danger and denies them basic medical care. We are proud to live and work in a state where reproductive freedom remains protected by law, but also recognize that there are states where the fight for reproductive justice has just begun in earnest.

As we said in May, every person in the workforce should have the autonomy, access, and resources to decide if and when they choose to have children. Access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare is critical to attracting the world class workforce that sustains our life science and biomedical ecosystem in Massachusetts. Reproductive justice and rights are fundamental for the life sciences workforce, our patients, and our loved ones.

MassBio stands by our belief that an inclusive, representative labor force that has agency over personal healthcare decisions is essential for innovation to happen, and remains committed to working with our state and federal delegation to protect and restore the reproductive rights of all Americans.
