Policy & Advocacy
MassBio educates policymakers about the value the life sciences industry brings to patients, the health care system, and the state.
We promote, on behalf of the industry, thoughtful legislative and regulatory solutions that allow life sciences companies to research, develop, and commercialize breakthrough therapies and cures, and to ensure patients around the world have affordable access to those new treatments. Likewise, we oppose policies that threaten patient access, limit innovation, or hurt the Massachusetts life sciences industry’s competitiveness in the global economy.
When government, industry, and academia work together, our industry thrives. MassBio is here to ensure that continues.
MassBio’s team of experienced government relations professionals on the ground in Washington, D.C. and on Beacon Hill directly engage on local issues, state and federal legislation, regulations, and other issues of importance to biomedical research and to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and diagnostics organizations across Massachusetts.
Our federal and state legislative priorities are sourced from and driven by our member companies. We share informational resources members can use to educate, inform and communicate around these priorities to legislators and other decision makers.
The Massachusetts Biotech Caucus
MassBio coordinates the Biotech Caucus, a group of state legislators interested in and supportive of the life sciences industry. Caucus meetings may include company site visits, panel discussions on hot topics or legislative initiatives and educational programs.
Policy Working Group
MassBio convenes a Policy Working Group which identifies and develops position statements on bills of interest to our membership. Participation is open to biotech member company government affairs leads and key company contacts, by invitation only.
