Craig: Can you tell me about Surplus Solutions and what you can offer to MassBio members?
Joe: Surplus Solutions provides the highest quality pre-owned equipment, outstanding service, and technical expertise to meet the needs of the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical and Life Science industries. SSLLC is headquartered in Woonsocket, RI with over 160,000 square feet of operational space. We support leading companies in the industry and have established an extensive direct sales network of both domestic and global clients.
We provide pre-owned equipment that meets the end user’s functional and quality needs as well as a variety of services to help get a client’s equipment sold, including brokerage, consignment, auction services, and outright cash purchases. We use our industry leading technical knowledge to meet the individual needs of our clients and design a specialized solution that will help them realize the maximum return for their surplus equipment.
Craig: MassBio and our members are patient driven. How can Surplus Solutions help an industry dedicated to addressing the unmet medical needs of people around the world?
Joe: Our goal is to help customers get their life saving products to market faster, cheaper, and in a more sustainable way. Craig: What do you see as the biggest challenge facing the life sciences industry today?
Joe: In my opinion, the biggest challenge facing the Life Science industry today is keeping up with the pace and frequency of change. Technology and demand are continuously shifting for research groups, drug developers, and even raw material producers, but it is also increasingly expensive and time consuming to execute the projects needed to react to complex challenges. Craig: What’s next for Surplus Solutions in the coming months?
Joe: By bringing folks into our organization with a Life Science background we are poised to even further increase our technical knowledge to better serve our customers. In his most recent positions, he managed Engineering activities within Sanofi’s rare disease manufacturing sector and served as an executive at Repligen Corporation where he was the Head of Global Technical Operations. Joe’s leadership, technical understanding of equipment, and in-depth knowledge of customer platforms will help Surplus Solutions scale to a world class organization.
