Can golfing in the MassBio Golf Classic help change lives? With all proceeds from the Golf Classic helping MassBioEd provide the lab-based training and mentoring that science teachers need to inspire students to embrace life sciences as a field of study, as well as the materials and support needed to grow and sustain such programming for students – the answer is a resounding YES!
In addition to golfing with friends and colleagues on a renowned course, you will be enabling MassBioEd’s BioTeach program to reach even more high school science teachers and students through life sciences training and career exploration programs. In the 2016-17 school year:
- 25 Massachusetts public high schools were granted a collective $117,534 in lab equipment awards,
- 15 BioTeach lab-based workshops, biotechnology focused, were delivered to 160 teachers from 91 Massachusetts public schools,
- 15 Career Exploration Days and five Biotech Futures events were held for 922 students and 72 teachers from 31 schools.
- Through teacher training, BioTeach trained teachers brought new lab lessons to ~10,000 students.
Thanks in part to high participation in the Annual MassBio Golf Classic, MassBioEd has grown over the years and now reaches more students than ever. We need your help to continue to bring these innovative education programs to teachers and students throughout the region.
